Industry Film School students receintly started filming a documentary of a motorcycle build. Hometown Heroes, a non-profit foundation, came to Industry Film School to have their students document a fundraiser that included auctioning a custom made motorcycle. The students were invited to visit Orange County Choppers for the inital meeting and were allowed to document the process. What an amazing opportunity for two freshman in college to visit Discovery’s hit show American Choppers.

Discovery was shooting at the time and the students were taken on a tour of the factory. This is just one of many opportunities students enrolled at Industry Film School have during their training. To schedule an interview for courses or for course information, please visit our website for detailed information. www.IndustryFilmSchool.com

During our production of ‘Dream Camp: California’, one of our stops was at the legendary Skywalker Ranch. What an amazing place. From the moment you walk through the front doors you feel like you’ve entered a new world. We were taken through the sound recording rooms and dub stage where we given a demonstration of how they record music for video games and films. Finally we ended up in the screening room where the THX system was first tested fully equipped with sub-woofers under the seats. We were shown clips of ‘Star Wars’ and ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ and had sound designers explain the process of creating sound for films. What a great group of people and I look forward to bringing some students back soon for a follow up visit and maybe even to mix our next project.

This August students once again participated in shooting the new ‘Dream Camp’ documentary. Although we spent most of our time in Malibu, one of our visits was to Cameron-Pace where we were greeted by James Cameron and Vince Pace. The students got to experience how 3D films are made. We were shown the convergence process as well as the PACE trucks and gear that just returned from shooting ESPN’s X-Games. Vince Pace is an amazing talent and we really appreciate him taking time out of his busy schedule to accommodate us during our production. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get James Cameron on camera due to a recent injury to his face. But, I have to say he was very cool and really appreciated the work the kids are doing. I look forward to going back soon with a new group of film students and getting a peek of what’s to come from this duo.

Industry Film School traveled to Anaheim, California to compete in the 2008 STN National Convention. Armed with the latest technology in camera and editing equipment, 4 students competed in two of the eleven events. Three students took home an honorable mention for their music video contest entry and one, Jim Mauro, received 2nd place in the Collaborative Commercial category. Over 1300 students and 700 high schools participated in the convention.

During the 4 day trip, the film school students were able to venture out into the real world of film and television production. Neal Bennett, their instructor, was able to contact some of his crew buddies in LA and get the students to experience a real life production environment on the set of Trading Spaces.
