      The INDUSTRY FILM SCHOOL offers a truly unique production education environment. From day one, our students are immersed in a filmmaking setting.

      Filmmaking boot camps are designed to introduce our students to the proper way of creating an independent film. Using professional equipment the students will write, direct, shoot and edit their own short film.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
FILMMAKING TECHNIQUE & CLAYMATION
NOW ENROLLING

      Each after school filmmaking program is composed of a series of courses that culminate in a certificate, a respected academic credential that is recognized by colleges and universities. Programs are developed, evaluated, and taught by certified teachers and professionals in the field. Certificate students also find valuable opportunities to network with instructors, classmates and other professionals.

      The Filmmaking Technique courses are designed as building blocks to develop a student’s career in filmmaking. Each technique course includes hands-on projects that advance with each class module. Whether a student is new to filmmaking or comes with previous experience, the Filmmaking Technique courses will help them develop their professional skills.

Filmmaking Technique 1

      This twelve week after school program is designed as an introductory course preparing students to become proficient in various areas of production. Students will work on writing, shooting, directing and editing their own projects while participating as crew members on other students’ projects.

      Topics covered during the twelve week session include:
            • Preproduction
            • Directing the Camera
            • Screen Writing Essentials
            • Camera Operation & Functions
            • Lighting with Available Light
            • Introduction to Editing

Filmmaking Technique 2
      This course is a continuation of Filmmaking Technique 1 and builds on the skills learned in that course. Students will continue writing, shooting, directing and editing their own work while experiencing new and exciting areas of production.

      Topics covered during the twelve week session include:
            • Production Budgeting & Scheduling
            • Directing & Planning Shots
            • Script Writing Structure (Part 1)
            • Digital Cinematography
            • Sound Recording
            • Basic Lighting
            • Directing Actors (Part 1)
            • Editing Rough to Fine Cut

*Prerequisite - Filmmaking Technique 1 or equivalent training.

Filmmaking Technique 3
      Continuing with the filmmaking education process, students are now introduced to advanced techniques. In this third module, students are emerged in the filmmaking process while refining skills for writing, shooting, directing and editing.

      Topics covered during the twelve week session include:
            • Post-Production Schedule
            • Directing Continuity
            • Script Writing Structure (Part 2)
            • 16mm Cinematography
            • Sound Recording & Mixing
            • Lighting for Aesthetics
            • Directing Actors (Part 2)
            • Editing with Music and SFX

*Prerequisite - Filmmaking Technique 2 or equivalent training.

Filmmaking Technique 4
      Continuing to build on previous skills, this course offers advanced filmmaking techniques that will prepare a student to create a short film for distribution. Students will write, shoot and direct a short film on a format of their choice.

      Topics covered during the twelve week session include:
            • Post-Production Festivals & Distribution
            • Directing Your Film
            • Creating Your Shooting Script
            • High Definition Cinematography
            • Sound Editing & Design
            • Advanced Lighting & Electrical
            • Directing Actors (Part 3)
            • Editing for Distribution

*Prerequisite - Filmmaking Technique 3 or equivalent training.

Advanced Filmmaking Technique 1
      This course is designed for advanced filmmaking students that have completed Filmmaking Technique 4 or equivalent training at another institution. This course is a twelve week course that focuses on developing skills needed to create an independent short or feature film for distribution.

      Topics covered during the twenty week session include:
            • Producing
            • Advanced Directing
            • Casting
            • Advanced Cinematography
            • Dialogue Recording
            • Production

*Prerequisite - Filmmaking Technique 4 or equivalent training.

Advanced Filmmaking Technique 2
      This course is a continuation for the advanced filmmaking students that have completed Advanced Filmmaking Technique 1. This course is a twelve week course that focuses on the post production process, completion and distribution of the student’s film.

      Topics covered during the twenty week session include:
            • Post Production
            • Sync-Sound Editing
            • Sound Design
            • Clearing Music Rights
            • Contracts
            • Distribution Options

*Prerequisite - Advanced Filmmaking Technique 1.

Claymation
      Students enrolled in this twelve-week course will create stop motion animation short films using modeling clay and various other elements. During the course the student will develop a script, models, backgrounds, and use any other props needed for the production. Students will also learn the basics of editing and sound mixing to create a finished DVD of their short films.
