Students do not need any experience prior to taking Stop Motion Animation. This class is a great introduction into basic video production. In this class, students learn how to create a story using stop-motion animation. You may have seen similar movies using clay, also called Claymation (Nightmare Before Christmas, Wallace & Gromit, Robot Chicken).

Similar to a flip book, students take numerous digital pictures using a specialized program and group them together in a time-sequence to produce a motion video.  Depending on the number of pictures per second the student chooses, they may take up to 1,800 pictures for a one minute short video.

In our class we use Legos, small toys, Sculpey clay, backdrops, pens and markers, as well as the latest in stop-motion animation software (Boinx iStop Motion), lighting and camera equipment.  Students will also learn how to export their video and edit in sound, music and voice overs.  At the end of the process students will learn how to author a master DVD of their project.
